Introduction to American Boarding Schools

Why Kids Like Boarding School

There are lots of reasons why kids actually enjoy boarding schools. While it might be difficult to be separated from loved ones, many boarding schools are available close to home or even available as day schools if you live close enough. The fact remains that many students prefer boarding schools to traditional public or even private schools.

Discipline

Many children with discipline issues respect establishments that offer firm discipline. While it may take them a while to settle in, children respect reasonable rules and routines. Knowing when and how to do something is strangely comforting – even for those who profess to hate the rules.

Academics

Boarding schools offer much more challenging and diverse academics. The boredom of traditional classrooms is not nearly as present in boarding schools. Smaller class sizes and dedicated teachers are able to move through material quickly and offer enriched learning experiences.

College Preparation

Many boarding schools offer far better college preparation than the traditional classroom. The American boarding schools have a history of turning out students prepared for the levels of academics in the finest universities. Many public schools can not say the same.

Peer Group

American boarding schools offer a more exclusive peer group. Culturally and economically diverse, these schools seem to be comprised of more serious academic students. The students looking to distract other learners and those who are in school for purely social reasons are not present in the classroom of a boarding school. Students are among their own and feel more comfortable.
