Educational Opportunities
Do you have a gifted or bright child? Despite their best
intentions, your neighborhood or even local private schools
may not be adequately serving his or her needs. Public
schools have been under the thumb of government regulations
for years, and recently the push for additional standardized
testing has driven out much of the challenging curriculum
and enrichment the students able to perform at higher levels
need. Teachers are more focused on bringing students up to
passing on the state tests than on getting students ready
for college. After all, teacher bonuses in many states are
now tied to test performance – not college bound status.
Private schools may not be much better. Charter schools are
also closely watched by the government, and many private
schools are simply havens for children who do not meet the
behavior standards at public schools. In many cases, the
teachers at private schools are not required to be educated
at the same level as public school teachers, so the
educational opportunities in these programs may be limited
as well.
If you want your child to have every opportunity to succeed,
consider a third option. American boarding schools offer
highly educated teachers dedicated to their work. Teaching
and their subject matter are more than a career, it’s a
passion, and these professionals are not paid based on state
testing rates, but rather on the excellence of student
achievement.
